This is delicious and harnesses a pure core of red deli meat on the middle palate. The 2019 Shiraz is fresh and grungy and textural; the tannins splay out through the finish and fill the mouth with a chewy, malleable sea of texture. Really smart.

The 2018 Shiraz possesses the same meaty character that exists within the 2019 vintage of the same wine, but this has an edge of supple, red fruit. 2018 was a bit of a marvel, and time and time again when I see the vintages side by side, I err toward the brightness and silkiness of the 2018s. This is a cracker. I really like it.

A bit stern and savory compared to previous vintages, Turkey Flat's 2017 Shiraz is still a solid effort, with a portion coming from vines planted in 1847. Black olives and blackberries appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is plump and generous, delivering notes of grilled beef, leather and mocha that finish long and velvety.

Aged in all French oak, 40% new, the 2015 Shiraz is the first vintage of this wine to include a whole-bunch component (15%). I found that element virtually undetectable in the glass, as the wine shows plenty of ripe blackberry fruit, vanilla and baking spices. It's medium to full-bodied (14.5% alcohol), with a velvety feel on the palate and a soft, plush finish. This should drink well through 2030.
