The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines is a deep, rich and beautifully textured effort that gives up tons of chocolate, dark fruit, licorice, roasted herbs and hints of spice. It's a ripe, broad, textured and concentrated effort that has tons to love. It's my favorite in this stacked lineup. The blend here is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, and it’s going to have 2-3 decades of life.

One of the stars of the lineup (yet also one of the most expensive as well), the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines checks in as 87% Cabernet, 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Syrah, from vines planted in the 1970s, that spent 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Big, rich, chocolaty and concentrated, with tons of blackcurrant, singed toast, vanilla bean and smoked herbs, it has full-bodied richness, building tannin and the overall balance and purity to evolve gracefully for 10-15 years.

The biggest, most rich, mineral-laced and massive wine in the portfolio, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines gives up lots of currants, charcoal, smoke earth and chocolate to go with a full-bodied, concentrated, structured and backward profile. This has lots of oak, lots of tannin, and lots of potential, but it should only be purchased by patient consumers. Give it 5-7 years and enjoy bottles over the following two decades. This is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot, mostly from the crème de la crème Champoux Vineyard, which spent 21 months in 100% new French oak. It’s up with the top wines of the vintage and readers looking for a classic, serious and age-worthy Bordeaux blend from Washington need look no further.

Along the same lines, yet with a smidge more concentration, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines boasts rock star aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, black raspberry, chocolate and jam-covered toast that flow seamlessly to a full-bodied, layered and elegant profile on the palate. The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines is a full-bodied, rich, mouth-filling, heavyweight of a Cabernet that offers a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2028.
