This wine is lavishly-oaked (that's the style at St. Francis), but allowing for that there is plenty of spicy, rich, plummy fruit in this dark ruby-colored, medium-bodied, flamboyantly-styled wine. It will not make old bones, but for drinking over the next 3-4 years, it is a delicious Merlot, provided readers are fond of toasty wood with black-cherry fruit flavors.
