The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarile, the selection, is darker in color than the regular bottling, more concentrated and substantial in flavor, riper and sweeter on both the nose and palate, and considerably denser and richer on the finish. Drink: 2005-2018. What’s missing here? Perhaps the spark, the inspiration which separates a very fine wine from an outstanding one. But perhaps we should stop expecting miracles in every vintage from this producer – he has never claimed, after all, to be able to walk on water.
