The 50-acre Zio Tony Ranch has produced a 2013 Pinot Noir (the Martinellis only use seven acres of this for their own wine) made from not only Dijon clones 777, but also the Calera clone. This wine reminds me of a grand cru Corton with its notes of sweet, briary black cherry fruit, dusty loamy soil, underbrush and a hint of forest floor. It has great fruit, medium to full body, and a long finish. This Pinot, along with the Bondi Home Ranch, sees the highest percentage of new oak at around 75 percent. Drink this over the next 10-12 years.
