The 2005 TOURIGA NACIONAL is another nice, single grape effort from Esporao in this vintage. The nose is beautiful, showing off what is often this grape’s best feature. Flavorful and bright, it has plum nuances and a soft, easygoing demeanor. Drink now-2013. This old stalwart in Alentejo provides some of the best buys in Portugal. Its current lineup is notable for the number of fine values, even with the continuing problems with exchange rates (many of these prices may have been set before the recent resurgence of the dollar).
