The 2003 Vina Alarba Old Vines (100% Grenache from 50+ year old vines cropped at only one ton of fruit per acre) offers excellent sweet and sour cherry notes intermixed with notions of pepper, licorice, and resiny balsam wood. Medium-bodied, crisp, and refreshing, it should be consumed over the next 1-3 years. This is a ridiculously priced bargain! A backwater Spanish appellation, Calatayud is becoming more and more important, especially for terrific wine values. Jorge Ordonez was the first broker in America to exploit this region.Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; tel. (781) 461-5767
