The 2009 Pinot Noir Lolita Ranch boasts a gorgeous core of dark red fruit, exotic spices, licorice, smoke and rose petals. The wine possesses tremendous density and richness in a medium to full-bodied style that is immensely appealing. This is one of the deeper, more masculine wines in the line-up. Vibrant mineral notes give the finish an extra burst of raw energy. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Martinelli is one of the original pioneering families in Sonoma. I tasted a wide range of wines during a recent visit. The 2008 Syrahs, from a challenging vintage, are a bit up and down, but the rest of the wines are all outstanding.
