This is the lowest rating I have ever bestowed on this wine, so perhaps this bottle was not the finest. Certainly the 1960 has never been one of the great Vega Sicilia's, but at this tasting, the wine appeared to lack fruit, displayed an earthy, musty-scented nose, and lean, dry, hard, herb-tinged flavors. It was a low-keyed, straightforward wine without enough fruit or flesh.
