The 2001 Riesling Spatlese Trocken Haardter Burgergarten offers a nose of lilies, acacia, pear, lime, and honeysuckle blossoms. Loads of lemon-infused stones, pears, and apples sit atop a powerful underlying smoky minerality in this wine's core. It would have merited a higher score if its personality had not dissipated before returning to fill out its long, focused finish. Projected maturity: 2004-2014.
