Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers from Philippe Colin has a pleasant, what you might describe as “dainty” and quite pure bouquet with chalky tones, nicely defined. The palate is crisp and fresh, a keen thread of acidity with quite a punchy, forthright finish. Lively and effervescent, this is a delightful Chassagne-Montrachet to enjoy over the next 6-8 years.
