I only had a chance to taste one Diamond Creek Cabernet, which is still a young wine. Produced from their 8-acre parcel of vines high on Diamond Creek Mountain, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with abundant notes of blueberries, black raspberries, graphite, earth and burning embers. Rich, medium to full-bodied, pure and dense, it possesses a Bordeaux-like personality as well as tremendous up-side potential. A dark, rich, immensely concentrated wine, with tiers of currant, anise, blackberry, fresh earth and cedary oak that pack in lots of flavor. Well-structured with firm tannins and lively acidity. Needs time. Best from 2006 through 2014. 450 cases made.
