The 1988 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde is nearly outstanding, and may ultimately merit a better review after another one or two years in the bottle. It has that classic bacon fat, smoky, roasted, raspberry fruitiness, rich, full-bodied, expansive flavors, an attractive richness and length, reflecting impeccable winemaking. Drinkable now, it should evolve nicely over the next 5-10 years. Last tasted 11/95.
