De Loach produced seven Zinfandels in 1995, all of which merit considerable interest. They are powerful yet accessible Zinfandels with alcohols ranging from 15% to 17.5%. Remarkably, they possess the concentration and ripe fruit necessary to conceal the alcohol - at least for the next several years. The dark ruby-colored 1995 Zinfandel Barbieri Ranch (15% alcohol and produced from vines planted in 1905) is one of the least powerful wines. Made in a similar style to the regular cuvee, it reveals medium body, ripe fruit, attractive spice and purity, and 3-4 years of drinkability. Kudos to De Loach for turning out such an impressive portfolio of 1995s!Tel. (707) 526-9111
