Boyer’s 2007 Puligny-Montrachet Les Rucheaux offers counterpoint of piquant walnut with sweet suggestions of honeysuckle and quince; as well as a deft balance between creaminess and refreshment. This technically village-level Puligny from 60 year old vines displays a lot of elegance and refinement, and excellent persistence if not profound depth. I would plan on enjoying it over the next 3-4 years.
Vincent Boyer’s 2007s – all of which were bottled by the following September, and weigh in at 12.5-13% alcohol – display a diversity of personalities, but share a sense of transparency to nuance, and a consistency of quality not equaled by his 2006s.
