In contrast, the brilliant 2008 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard exhibits the grand cru nobility of this fabulous site. Deep plum/ruby/purple, with a terrific nose of camphor, blueberry, black raspberry. and cherry, as well as background oak and mossy, foresty notes, the wine has terrific fruit on the attack, mid-palate, and finish. Very rich, ripe and bold, in the way of Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noirs, with mouth filling cherry, raspberry, red plum and mocha flavors, enhanced with smoky oak. Tasty, but a bit ponderous, with some sharpness through the finish. Try cellaring for 4–5 years and see where it goes.——S.H.(11/1/2010)—— 89
