Good as the 2000 Barolo Lazzarito is, I continue to prefer the more complete 1999 version of this wine. A dark garnet, it opens with powerful aromas of tar, licorice, and vanilla and continues with dense and chewy flavors, packed and with important tannins. Here as well, a slight dryness indicates that, despite the significant potential of the wine, it is unlikely to reach the level of the 1999. Drink: 2007-2020. This shows masses of blackberries and fresh flowers on the nose, turning to licorice. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a long finish. This is dense yet fresh.
