The Mazis-Chambertin possesses fabulous color, a rich, powerful, intense bouquet, superb depth, length, and enough concentration, body, and tannin to last until 1999-2004. It may well turn out to be one of the longest-lived wines from what should be a relatively short-lived burgundy vintage.
The 1987s of Lalou Bize-Leroy are often just a notch below her phenomenal 1985s. They provide additional convincing evidence that the 1987 vintage is probably the most underrated Burgundy vintage (along with 1980) in the last 20 years.
