The Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanee exhibits fruit cake, acacia flower, and anise aromas. On the palate, its acidity and fruit appeared to be slightly disjointed, but there was no mistaking this wine's outstanding potential. Its full-bodied, concentrated, complex, oily-textured flavor profile is loaded with hazelnut cream, spices, minerals, and hints of red berries. As it finishes its elevage, I am certain that this superb wine will integrate all its components. Drink it between 2001 and 2008.
