Admirers of the crisp, delicious Sauvignon Blanc l'Apres-Midi will be disappointed that only 214 cases were produced in 1999. The low production was caused by an irregular flowering and poor crop set. This light to medium-bodied, 100% Sauvignon Blanc reveals notes of grapefruit, melon, tangerine, and assorted citrus. An underlying minerality emerges as the wine sits in the glass. Elegant, with gorgeous levels of fruit as well as a nicely-textured mouthfeel, it remains one of California's most nuanced Sauvignon Blancs. Seventy percent of this cuvee was fermented with indigenous yeast. Drink it over the next 1-2 years, although I suspect it will last longer.
