The Domaine Amiot-Bonfils remains one of the most underrated producers of red and white burgundies. The range of 1989s I tasted with Amiot was the finest I have ever experienced from Amiot. This is an opulent, super-rich 1989 Chassagne-Montrachet-Les Vergers. It would have merited an outstanding rating simply on the basis of its power and intensity, but I thought there was too much new oak showing in the nose and flavors. That may be absorbed given the wine's stunning concentration. Drinkable now, this wine will age gracefully for at least a decade. Importer: Kermit Lynch Selections, Berkeley, CA.
