Bob Cabral continues to fashion mouthfilling, enormously rich Chardonnays that see full malolactic, lees aging, and are bottled without filtration. The "modestly" alcoholic 1999 Chardonnay Hawk Hill Vineyard exhibits copious quantities of lemon grass and mineral characteristics, but in this example, the high acidity interferes somewhat with the wine's enormous density and richness. It is hard to know where this is going. Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546
