The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chaumées has a more conservative nose than the Macherelles, more restrained perhaps but it is still fresh and well defined. The palate is nicely balanced with good salinity on the entry, a keen line of acidity gently building in the mouth towards a brisk, lively, lightly spiced finish. Again, this is a very complete Chassagne from Olivier Lamy, even if it does not quite have the daring-do of his finest Saint Aubin.
