The outstanding 1993 Riesling Schlossberg (from a vineyard planted on granite soil) exhibits a floral, earthy, apple-like nose, intense, beautifully ripe flavors buttressed by zesty acidity. The finish is dazzlingly long, ripe, and crisp. This is a lovely, dry, intense Riesling for drinking over the next 10+ years. Proprietors Maurice and Jacky Barthelme of the Domaine Albert Mann have made so many great wines over the last few years that they are not far from challenging the supremacy of such great Alsace domaines as Zind-Humbrecht and Domaine Weinbach for top place in this fairy tale wine region. Domaine Mann produces wines of uncompromising richness and intensity, generally from extremely small yields and old vines.
