De Loach's 1992 Zinfandel regular cuvee is an outstanding wine. Although it is often overlooked by consumers rushing to purchase the OFS (denoting "our finest selection") and single vineyard offerings, it is a blockbuster, rich, supple, voluptuously-textured wine with tremendous concentration and a heady, spicy finish. It is a textbook Zinfandel that should not be missed. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. De Loach has produced a bevy of delicious 1992 Zinfandels that surpass even the wonderful array of Zinfandels this winery produced in 1990 and 1991. All of the single vineyard Zins come from old vines. For example, the Barbieri Ranch is from a 23-acre vineyard planted in 1905, the Gambogi Ranch is from a 10-acre vineyard planted in 1909, the Papera Ranch is from an 18-acre vineyard planted in 1934, and the Peletti Ranch is from a vineyard planted in 1928.
