Michele Chiarlo’s long list of wines includes interesting selections from Barbaresco as well. The 2010 Barbaresco Reyna is designed to show a bigger and lusher side of Barbaresco, and it does indeed do that. Soft oaky layers are topped by ripe fruit, dark cherry, leather and cigar box. The richness and plushness of the wine is immediately apparent and makes this suitable for near-term enjoyment. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.
Just recently, Michele Chiarlo opened the Palas Cerequio Barolo Cru Resort. This boutique hotel, with just a handful of creatively decorated rooms and a beautifully positioned swimming pool, is nestled between the vines of the celebrated Cerequio cru. The property takes its inspiration from the estate’s top wine.
