This wine has completely closed down after bottling. The color is still an impressively saturated ruby/purple. The nose, even with extended decanting, only reveals hints of sweet plums, cherries, black currants, and some oak and dried herbs. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied, with hints of fruitcake, spice box, cedar, and more black fruits. The tannins kick in in the finish, and the wine completely shuts down. This is a wine for patient traditionalists. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Last tasted, 1/03.
